General & Restorative

At Dentalcare South Perth we provide extensive restorative procedures. We believe that the restorations should be both functional and aesthetic, providing strength, durability and beauty. These services range from a simple single tooth restoration to full mouth reconstruction.

Some examples of general treatment may include:

Fillings: Dentalcare South Perth is an amalgam & mercury free practice.

We believe in restoring teeth as conservatively, as durably and as aesthetically as possible to ensure long term health and beauty. With modern restorative care, we utilize aesthetic, tooth-coloured materials.

Composite resins consist of tiny ceramic particles in a resin matrix. Though they require more expertise from the dentist, these restorations offer the strength, durability and beauty we are looking for. Small and medium-sized cavity preparations can typically be restored effectively in a single appointment.

For larger fillings that require more strength for load bearing, porcelain inlays are recommended. Modern E4D CAD/CAM technology allows us to use porcelain to restore teeth to their pre-filled condition to achieve ideal long term strength.

Crowns: When the damage to teeth by cracks or decay becomes extensive, crowns protect teeth by reinforcing and restoring strength. They help to band the tooth together much like a helmet and help to evenly redistribute chewing forces. In this way unwanted tooth fractures can be avoided. Advanced materials and techniques allow near perfect reproduction of natural tooth anatomy and colour. In most cases, E4D technology allows us to complete the crown in a single visit - rather than the multiple visits that were required in the past.

Bridges: An excellent way to replace one or multiple missing teeth. It replaces missing teeth with porcelain teeth and attaches to the natural teeth on either side of the empty space. There are numerous different types and configurations of bridges that are designed most appropriately for each person.

Implants: Implants are used to completely simulate a missing natural tooth. The great advantage of implants is that missing teeth can be replaced independently of adjacent teeth. Implants will also give the most natural appearance as it emerges from the gum line. A dental implant is a small titanium fixture that replaces the root portion of a missing natural tooth. The implant fuses to the jaw bone and serves as an anchor for the replacement tooth. A crown is then placed on top of the implant as replacement for the natural tooth. Dental implants can be used to replace a single lost tooth, or many missing teeth. Implants can also be used in conjunction with bridges and dentures depending on the situation.

Root Canal Therapy: Sometimes, the nerve of the tooth may be degenerate, become necrotic and die off. If left untreated, this can cause severe pain. Root canal therapy involves the removal of the unwanted nerve to prevent pain & infection, whilst saving the tooth. Root canal therapy can preserve the remaining tooth structure and allow it to be restored accordingly to retain a natural appearance and function.

Periodontal Therapy: Dentistry is not just about the teeth, but it is equally important to have healthy gums. Some people may be more prone to gum disease than others. Not only does this result in bad breath, but can also cause the early loss of teeth. Periodontal therapy helps to maintain healthy gums to ensure that they provide good support to the teeth for life.

Wisdom Teeth & Extractions: Wisdom teeth (3rd molars) and other teeth may need to be removed for a variety of reasons. These could include the prevention of problems in future, or to provide relief from acute pain. During your consultation your dentist will advise you of any teeth which may require extraction, and discuss the various options with you. There is also the option of treatment under a General Anaesthetic for more complex cases.
